Tax Program

To Residents of the Roundup Public School District,

We would like to make you aware of the Innovative Education Tax Credit program. HB 279 and HB 408 allow taxpayers to redirect a portion of their Montana income taxes directly to school districts instead of to the State, providing schools with additional resources to enhance educational programs.

This opportunity operates on a first-come, first-served basis starting on January 15, 2025. Taxpayers can participate in the program by donating a portion of their Montana income taxes, up to $200,000, directly to the school, in return they will receive a dollar-for-dollar tax credit on their Montana income tax bill. The statewide cap for claiming this credit has been set at $6 million for 2025.

There is a chance the $6 million cap will be met before your donation is recorded. If your donation is not accepted by the DOR because the aggregate limit was reached, you will not be obligated to make the donation. If you choose to donate for the tax credit, we are grateful for your support of Roundup Public Schools.

Your contribution will help Roundup Public Schools enhance and expand innovative educational initiatives including transformational and advanced learning opportunities, post-secondary credits and/or career certifications, technology to improve learning experiences and opportunities, and programs, services and equipment for students with disabilities.

For additional information or to participate in the program, please contact Josiah Mayfield at 406-323-1507. If you tax related questions, we encourage you to consult your financial planners or advisors before participating in this program.

We have developed a google form, that you can complete, along with bringing your donation in to the district office at 12 Main Street, Roundup, MT 59072.
